Title: Mental Health Technician

  • Location: Lindner Center of HOPE *

  • Department: Adolescent Residential *

  • Shift: First *

  • Hours: 20 hours per week *

    This position provides direct care to patients as delegated by and under the supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN). Delivers assigned, delegated, direct care consistent with the individualized treatment plan. Performs non-patient care activities as assigned. Maintains a safe & therapeutic treatment environment.

    Major Duties and Responsibilities

    • Obtains clinical measurements.

    • Assists patients with activities of daily living.

    • Responds to patient requests timely and efficiently

    • Gathers objective data & observation about the patient

    • Conducts therapeutic activities with groups or individual patients

    • Monitors patient & environmental safety continuously

    • Documents in the electronic medical record (EMR)

    • Schedules appointments for diagnostic testing, alternative care, or patient transport.

    • Clerical Duties as assigned.

    • Drives patients to scheduled appointments.

  • Knowledge and Skills *

    Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Enrolled in Bachelors degree program for psychology, social work or other related field.

    Position Requirements

    1. High school graduate or equivalent

    2. Must have one of the following:

    • 5 years of experinece as a nursing assistant with Eighty (80) hours of State Tested Nursing Aide Training, or forty (40) hours of hospital specific training or

    • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work or other related field with 6 months of mental health experience or

    • Two years of experience in a mental health setting or

    • Nursing student in a National League for Nursing (NLN) accredited RN program with successful completion of at least one hospital rotation

    1. CPR Certification – may be obtained after hired

    2. Good Driving Record

    Physical Requirements

    To effectively care for patients, employees must be able to push, pull and lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis, and be able to stand or walk about 90% of a work shift. Must be able to see, talk, and hear coworkers, patients, and others.
